Brazilian giants Vasco da Gama have confirmed Carlos Alberto will play for the club for six months after joining on loan from Werder Bremen.
The 24-year-old midfielder has passed a medical and is expected to travel to the city of Vila Velha, in the state of Espirito Santo, to start pre-season training.
Vasco vice-president Jose Hamilton Mandarino said: "Carlos Alberto is a player we've been trying to sign for a long time.
"He will be very important for the squad as he will play part of the Campeonato Carioca (the traditional Rio de Janeiro state championship), the Copa do Brasil and part of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
"Carlos Alberto has what it takes to turn into our most important signing for 2009."
Carlos Alberto is Vasco's 13th summer signing and they are very close to adding PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Cassio to that number as the Rio de Janeiro giants attempt to return to the top division this year.
