Lyon striker willing to halve salary for more games

Lyon striker Fred has claimed that he is willing to halve his salary if he is given the assurance that he will play in all of the club's matches this season.

The Brazilian has scored twice in the 11 league games he has played this season and has been in talks over a contract extension at the French champions.

Evidently time on the pitch, and not money in the bank, is the most important thing for the striker as he said: "If I'm told, 'You'll play 100% of the matches' then I'll lower my salary by 50%."

Fred's brother, who also acts as his agent, is currently in Lyon awaiting the commencement of negotiations, though the player himself already met club officials 18 days ago to discuss the situation.
