Ince undecided over Rovers' transfer activity

Blackburn manager Paul Ince has not yet decided which players will be allowed to leave and which will stay at Ewood Park when the transfer window opens in January.

With the club next-bottom of the Premier League after a run of eight matches without a victory he has more pressing issues to worry about.

However, he will be looking to freshen up his squad when the window reopens.

Ince knows he has to make a decision on midfielder Carlos Villanueva, who is halfway through a season-long loan spell from Chilean club Audax Italiano, while veteran Dutch defender Andre Ooijer has also spoken of his desire to return to his homeland.

''We want to keep improving the side. I'll sit down with the chairman and we'll talk about the situation with players coming and going,'' said the former Manchester United midfielder.

''With Villanueva we know we have to make a decision by the end of December.

''It's been hard for him. He is a young lad and needs time to settle in but because we haven't started the season so well it is hard to throw him into that situation.

''It would have been nice to have been mid-table and be able to have a look at him.

''As for Andre he has been fantastic and he is the type of person you need at the club. He has seen it all before and he is much needed.

''I don't believe all the rubbish that is written. Unless he knocks on my door - which he hasn't done - I'm happy for him to be here.''

Ooijer, who is attracting interest from AZ Alkmaar, is entering the last six months of his contract with Rovers.

He reportedly told the Dutch FA's website: ''In principle, I am allowed to talk to other clubs from January.

''If it is up to me and my family, I will return to the Netherlands.

''I have read that there is a lot of interest in me, but I really have got no idea yet which club I will eventually move to.''

AZ's technical director Marcel Brands admitted earlier this week: ''I have not had contact with him for some months, but he is still in the picture for us.

''However, I have not had word from Blackburn over whether they want to sell him.

''But Andre knows we are interested and he has let us know that he is keen, which is positive.''
