Riquelme not included in Argentina squad

Argentina coach Diego Maradona has not named Juan Roman Riquelme among the three home-based players he has called up to face Scotland in Glasgow next week.

Daniel Montenegro of Independiente, Emiliano Papa of Velez Sarsfield and River's Cristian Villagra have been added to the squad while Maradona decided against calling up any players from Boca Juniors or San Lorenzo for his first game in charge on November 19.

Boca had appealed to the Argentina Football Association to prevent Riquelme from travelling for the friendly as they battle with San Lorenzo for the league title.

Juan Sebastian Veron and defender Marcos Angeleri have also been left out with Estudiantes playing Argentinos in the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals.
