D.C. United's Moreno has knee surgery

WASHINGTON -- D.C. United forward Jaime Moreno, the MLS' all-time leading scorer, underwent knee surgery and is expected to be ready for next season.

Moreno had an articular cartilage cleaned and a meniscal defect removed during the procedure performed Wednesday. The club said the Bolivian striker will be ready for full participation in next year's preseason.

Moreno, 34, has scored an MLS-record 122 goals and has 99 assists. He had 10 goals and 10 assists this season.
