Adriano named in Brazil squad for Portugal game

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Striker Adriano, who has been left out of Inter Milan's last two games for indiscipline, was named in Brazil's squad on Monday for this month's friendly against Portugal.

World Player of the Year Kaka was also included by coach Dunga but Ronaldinho, who missed last month's World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Colombia, was again overlooked.

Adriano, who appeared to be on the way back to his best after a prolonged spell of fitness problems, was left out of Inter's matches against Fiorentina and Reggina amid media reports he had been sent home for arriving late for training.

"I have to be faithful to my convictions," Dunga told reporters. "I don't even know if there is a problem and if there is, it's superficial.

"The problem is with Inter but we're going to talk when he's here. Adriano's behaviour here has been excellent and he's getting back to his best form."

Dunga named a full-strength squad for Portugal's first visit to Brazil since 1989, a decision likely to anger European club coaches because of the amount of travelling involved.

Dunga revealed he is keeping tabs on Ronaldinho and expects to recall the AC Milan playmaker next year after overlooking the 28-year-old for the November 19 friendly against Portugal.

He said: "He needs to get rhythm of matches and training. He is having more time to prepare himself at Milan and we are watching the results of his recent matches. We'll reap the benefits from him in 2009. We hope he will be in his best condition so he can be the Ronaldinho everybody knows."

Ronaldinho, who helped Brazil take bronze at the Olympics, has been absent from the Selecao since the goalless draw against Bolivia in Rio de Janeiro on September 10.

Surprises in the list are Sao Paulo defender Miranda, who returns to the Selecao after 15 months, and Real Madrid's Marcelo, who was part of Brazil's Olympic side in Beijing.

"I am very happy about my selection," said Miranda. "It's the result of the hard work I've done at Sao Paulo, but I share this with my team-mates and the technical staff."
