UCLA 0-0 Cal: Bruins remain top of Pac-10

No. 23 UCLA and eighth-ranked California played to a 0-0 tie at UCLA's Drake Stadium. The two teams combined for 43 shots (23 by Cal and 20 by UCLA) but could not break through for a score.

The first half was an evenly-matched affair, with Cal owning a slight shot advantage, 6-5. Bruin goalkeeper Brian Perk made three saves in the half, while Cal's Stefan Frei had one save off a Jason Leopoldo shot.

Both teams continued to struggle to score in the second half, although Cal's Davis Paul almost broke the deadlock in overtime with a shot that hit the post in the 93rd minute.

Both Perk and Frei finished with seven saves in the shutout, which was the sixth for both goalkeepers. UCLA has now posted shutouts in five straight games and has not allowed a goal in 479 consecutive minutes.

The Bruins (7-4-6) remain atop the Pac-10 Conference with a 5-1-2 conference record. Cal moves to 7-2-5, 2-1-3 in the Pac-10.
