Siena to offer Ronaldo pay-as-you play?

Serie A strugglers Siena would be prepared to give legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo a pay-per-goal contract. The 32-year-old free agent has been on a rehabilitation programme at Brazilian side Flamengo since August and is almost fully recovered from a career-threatening knee injury he suffered playing for AC Milan in February.

"(Signing Ronaldo) is an idea we are working on," Siena club president Giovanni Lombardi Stronati told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"They tell me he's really thinking of retiring, but I'd like to offer him another chance. I've spoken to his manager and proposed a contract of 100,000 euros ($130,600) per goal. Ronaldo's goals could save Siena."

Siena are three points above the Serie A relegation zone in 13th place,
