CARSON, Calif. -- Chivas USA forward Maykel Galindo underwent surgery Wednesday for a bilateral sports hernia that's kept him on the sideline for all but 10 games this season.
Galindo's third sports hernia surgery this year was performed at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. Galindo, who has one goal and two assists this season, could be out for up to three months, the team said.
Galindo had his earlier surgeries in Milwaukee on Jan. 9 and June 11. The native of Cuba was Chivas USA's leading scorer as a rookie last season with 12 goals and five assists in 28 games.
Chivas USA opens the playoffs Saturday at Real Salt Lake.
