Eredivisie: Eindhoven and AZ seal away wins

Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven bounced back from their weekend defeat against Roda JC to see off ADO Den Haag.

After losing in Kerkrade for the second season in a row, PSV could have done with an early goal to boost confidence, but the game remained a stalemate at half-time.

Erik Addo settled PSV nerves 11 minutes after the break, though, before Otman Bakkal sealed the points in the last minute of the game.

Mounir El Hamdaoui's purple patch continued as AZ Alkmaar went top of the Eredivisie with their sixth consecutive win.

El Hamdaoui's ninth and 10th goals in his last five Eredivisie matches were enough to dispatch Roda JC and send AZ to the summit ahead FC Groningen and NAC Breda's games on Wednesday.

For Roda it was a reality check after their defeat of PSV Eindhoven, which remains their only victory of the season.

FC Volendam picked up their first point of the Eredivisie season on Tuesday with a draw against Willem II.

Frans Adelaar's men have had a dismal start since their promotion to the top flight with seven defeats in as many league matches.

They appeared to be in danger of recording another loss when goals from Sergio Ziljer and Paul Quasten gave Willem II the lead after Melvin Platje had fired the home side ahead.

But Paul De Lange found the target in the 76th minute to secure a much-needed draw for Volendam, although the result was not enough to lift them off the foot of the table.
