Milan coach Ancelotti happy with Cagliari draw

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was quick to defend his team's performance following the disappointing draw at Cagliari on Sunday.

The Rossoneri failed to take advantage of defeats for Roma and Juventus as they were held to a goalless stalemate by bottom-of-the-table Cagliari.

The result ended Milan's run of three successive league wins and left the Rossoneri in eighth place in Serie A - three points behind leaders Lazio.

But Ancelotti said: "There is nothing wrong with drawing a game on a difficult pitch against a very determined side as Cagliari.

"It is a fair result considering what both teams did in the game.

"You cannot win every single match. After three straight victories we didn't play an exceptional game here."

Milan will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Sampdoria on October 19 following the international break.

In the meantime, Ancelotti will be hoping the two-week respite will allow injured duo Alessandro Nesta and Filippo Inzaghi to regain their fitness.
