Higuain eyes recall to Argentina squad
Read Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is hoping to win his first call-up to the Argentina squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The 20-year-old has made an impressive start to the Primera Liga season, starting all three of the Spanish champions' games and scoring one goal.
Higuain has represented Argentina at Under-23 level but was left out of the Olympics squad which won gold in Beijing last month.
"I am hoping to play for the national team," he told Ole newspaper.
"It's every player's dream. I am motivated and I want to do my best and play. I dream every day about playing in the national shirt.
"I am working very hard to start (for Real Madrid). Nobody is fixed in the team and I work every day to prove the coach that I can play."
Higuain was born in Brest but rejected the chance to play for France Under-18s in 2006.
A year later he expressed his desire to represent Argentina, a decision he said he "will never regret".
Albicelestes coach Alfio Basile names his squad on Friday for the qualifiers against Uruguay and Chile next month.
