Deco bewildered by Robinho's move to City

Chelsea playmaker Deco admits he was left puzzled by Robinho`s shock move from Real Madrid to Manchester City.

Chelsea had looked favourites to sign the Brazil international but, after refusing to meet Madrid's 40million euro asking price, the mercurial winger ended up joining their Premier League rivals City just before the end of the transfer window.

Robinho`s switch from the two-reigning Spanish champions to a club who were playing second-tier football just six years ago raised more than a few eyebrows in the football world, not least with Deco who said: "To leave Madrid to go to Chelsea is okay, but I have my doubts with respect to City.

"I don`t know, we will have to ask Robinho what happened. It`s not normal either to change Real for City only for the money. Robinho has the standing to play in a team who aspire to titles."

With regards to his own summer switch from Spain to England, Deco has revealed he is settling into life at Stamford Bridge very well.

The former Barcelona schemer has already been a hit on the field, scoring twice in Chelsea's opening three games to help them to the top of the table, while off it he admits that his new team-mates are making it easy for him to adapt.

When asked to compare life at Chelsea with that at Barca, the Portugal international told El Mundo Deportivo: "They are two great teams, there are high-quality players at both clubs and the biggest difference, which could be the yearning for friends and Barcelona team-mates, is offset because at Stamford Bridge there is Belletti, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, Bosingwa, Hilario and the coach is Luiz Felipe Scolari, a very important manager in my career as coach of Portugal. I`m at home in London.

"I've started off on the right foot, I`ve great team-mates at Chelsea. We`ve only drawn against Juande Ramos` Tottenham, who made life difficult for us."

Deco was also quizzed about how the Premier League compares to the Primera Liga, with the 31-year-old saying: "It basically differs that in the Premier League there are no small opponents, everyone fights to the death.

"When we play at home we still have a bit of space, but away you are under constant pressure from your opponent. In every area of play there is a battle. It`s fun."

Chelsea were not the only club interested in signing Deco this summer, with Italian giants Internazionale also linked to the diminutive playmaker.

However, Deco insists he does not regret turning his back on the possibility of joining back up with his former Porto boss Jose Mourinho at the San Siro in favour of a move to Chelsea.

"Chelsea`s offer was more interesting in all aspects than that of Internazionale, I liked more the plans of Felipe Scolari and I cannot complain, to play next to Lampard, Essien, Ballack, Joe Cole, Drogba, Terry and Co is a pleasure," he said.

"We are going to make life difficult for Inter and for everyone, we aspire to win the Champions League that the club were so close to last year, losing on penalties."
