TEAM OF THE MONTH - AUGUST 2008

GOALKEEPERS: New York's Jon Conway is the hot goalie for August with 19 points. Conway might be a good choice for the remainer of the season given that his coach, Juan Carlos Osorio, is very defensively-orientated and the Red Bulls are on a roll -- the team is unbeaten in its last six games.

DEFENDERS: With the Red Bulls defense on form (3 shutouts in their last 4 games), defenders Seth Stammler and Kevin Goldthwaite are solid pickups (19 and 15 points respectively). Ivan Guerrero has been given a new lease of life since being picked up by D.C. United and has helped D.C. discover some defensive stability. D.C. had four shutouts in six games during August

MIDFIELDERS: Guillermo Barros Schelotto continues to flourish as the Crew's playmaker notching 21 fantasy points on the month. Schelotto pushed his league-leading total to 16 assists. He might become only the second player in MLS history to reach 20 in a single season. Houston's Brad Davis is red-hot with four assists and a goal in August for 26 points. San Jose's wide men Ronnie O'Brien and Arturo Alvarez have also been a force during the Quakes' seven-game unbeaten run (22 and 21 points respectively).

STRIKERS: The hottest striker in the league right now is New England's Taylor Twellman who seems to have finally overcome the injuries that plagued him earlier this season. Twellman had four goals and an assist in August for 27 points. Another top-rated player to begin the season, New York's Juan Pablo Angel, has also recently overcome injuries and started playing to form. He had a solid August with 24 points, second only to Twellman.
