Premier Showdown - Aug 23-25

So it was the same old story on the opening weekend of the Premier League season as Dale Johnson recorded victory, even if it wasn't exactly a superb performance!

The Rest of the World have been in the doldrums for a year now. Can they snap out of it?

Hoping to raise a cheer is Bill Riley who's in the United States.

Bill tells us: 'I feel confident in saying I'm the only Tottenham fan in tiny Greencastle, IN. Following your squad from a cornfield in America's heartland can be tough, but thanks to the internet and satellite TV I get along.

'I'm 25 and work as a university fundraiser at a small liberal arts college.'

Let's get it on!

Each week one of our readers has the chance to challenge our two experts.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and ESPNsoccernet Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.
