Valencia would consider 50m euros for Villa

Valencia have put a price on David Villa, the striker who top-scored at Euro 2008. A 50 million euro bid will tempt Los Che club, according to vice-president Fernando Gomez. But it will not necessarily mean that Villa will be sold by a club that is desperate to retain his services. Reports in Spain suggest Valencia had turned down an offer of around 47million euros from Real Madrid though Gomez denied any bid had been put before Valencia. 'There is no offer for Villa and if one arrives we hope it will be as soon as possible, (although) we hope one never comes.' Gomez admits that a big-money bid for Villa could lead to some serious thinking at the Mestalla. 'It would be very difficult to see Villa leave Valencia,' said Gomez, who added a hypothetical bid of 50million euros would be 'a good offer, but I cannot assure that we would say yes to it'. 'Valencia have not had any offer for Villa. Anything that arrives will be studied,' he said. Valencia want to keep both Villa and David Silva at the club next season, but while Silva's future at the Mestalla has been secured due to an improved contract after he turned down a bid from Manchester United. Gomez hopes Villa will follow Silva by signing a new deal saying in Marca: 'We will be reviewing his contract so that he is happier to continue with us. 'We have to meet with his agent, but I don't know when.' Serbian striker Nikola Zigic, linked to a number of sides in England, is still available. Gomez admitted: 'We have wanted to sell Zigic but it has not been possible, and now we don't have a concrete offer for his transfer.'
