Govou frustrated by situation at Lyon

Lyon forward Sidney Govou has criticised president Jean-Michel Aulas over the on-going uncertainty surrounding his future.

The 28-year-old, who has spent his entire career at Lyon, has been linked with a move to Paris St Germain recently, despite new coach Claude Puel insisting the player is in his plans.

Govou revealed in May he was interested in a move abroad, but would happily stay at Lyon for the remainder of his career should nothing emerge.

'Jean-Michel Aulas says one thing and then another,' he told France Football magazine on Wednesday.

'One day I've got permission to leave, the next they want to offer me a contract extension. Me, I don't get involved in the matter. I let him talk and then we'll see what happens.

'I'm 29 years old (on July 27) so I don't expect anything anymore. It's true that when I was younger I would have liked people to say to me 'Sidney, we're not going to let you leave', but at my age I don't need it.

'Honestly, I don't give a damn.'

Puel has said repeatedly he would like Govou to stay, and with no apparent bids it is likely the forward will be at the Stade Gerland next season.

Govou insists he will not be any less motivated if he does remain for a 10th season.

'I like football, I like playing, I like winning. I don't need a lot to be motivated,' he said.
