Shittu still keen on Rangers, despite talks collapse

Watford defender Danny Shittu insists he is still keen to move to Rangers despite accusing the Ibrox club of causing the collapse of the deal.

Rangers had a £1.5million bid accepted for the 27-year-old Nigeria international but it was reported that his personal demands had proved too much for Light Blues' boss Walter Smith.

Shittu, however, claimed Rangers had altered the personal terms first offered but claims he is still willing to talk to the Govan club.

He said: 'I was prepared to join Rangers.

'They put a proposal on the table which I accepted but when it came to putting the contract in writing the deal had changed.

'This is where the breakdown in talks has come as far as I'm concerned.

'I know there is other interest out there but my first choice remains Rangers and I still believe a deal can be done.

'I certainly haven't closed the door on the move but it's up to Rangers.'
