Villarreal sign Argentinian playmaker Ibagaza

VILLARREAL, July 7 (Primera Liga) - Villarreal have confirmed the signing of Argentinian playmaker Ariel Ibagaza from Mallorca.

The 31-year-old joins the club on a two-year deal with the option of an additional year extension.

A statement on the club website read: 'Villarreal CF and RCD Mallorca have reached an agreement whereby the player Ariel Ibagaza will belong to the Amarillos for the next two season.

'Furthermore, the Yellow Submarine has the option of extending the player's contract for a further year when it reaches its conclusion in 2009/2010.'

'El Cano' is set to be presented to the press on Tuesday at 1300 local time.

Villarreal become the third Spanish club he has represented since arriving in the country in 1998, after two spells at Mallorca and a stint with Atletico Madrid.

He becomes the fifth signing to arrive at the club this summer, following on from Brazilian midfielder Edmilson and Spanish forward Joseba Llorente as well as South American youngsters Damian Escudero and Robert Flores.
