Werder midfielder Bischoff eyes Arsenal move

Werder Bremen midfielder Amaury Bischoff claims he is set to sign for Arsenal in the near future.

The 21-year-old Frenchman, who has represented his country at Under-18 and Under-20 level, has rejected a contract extension with the Bundesliga club in the hope that he will meet with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to finalise a move to London.

'Arsene Wenger has known about me since I was at Strasbourg (2004-05) and he believes in me,' he told German newspaper Bild.

'We're waiting for him to return from Vienna, where he was attending the European Championships, to sort out the last details (of the move).'

Bremen sporting director Klaus-Dieter Fischer confirmed that Bischoff had turned down a new offer from the German side.

'He (Bischoff) wants a new challenge and we wish him the best of luck,' he said.
