Sanchez backed to continue with Bolivia

Bolivian Football Federation president Carlos Chavez hinted Erwin Sanchez will remain as the national team coach regardless of the outcome of their World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Wednesday.

Bolivia have collected just one point from five games and lie bottom of the South American qualifying zone. Their latest setback came in a 2-0 home defeat to Chile last Sunday.

But despite being criticised by the media and supporters, Chavez gave Sanchez a vote of confidence.

'We must think about long-term projects. We should trust in them,' Chavez told reporters. 'In the (FBF) Executive Committee we usually analyse, criticise and evaluate everything and we have never put the coaching staff's job in doubt.

'We are disappointed, sad for what happened (on Sunday) but we must keep working hard ahead of the Paraguay match.'

Chavez added that critics do not help the national team at this difficult time.

He said: 'Most of critics are not objective. We are not in the ideal condition. However, we take criticism to build a good future.'
