Blues' striker Forssell makes Hannover switch

Hannover have completed the signing of Finland striker Mikael Forssell from Birmingham on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old has signed a contract tying him to the Bundesliga side until the summer of 2011.

Hannover's sporting director Christian Hochstatter, who worked with the injury-plagued frontman during his brief spell at Borussia Monchengladbach five years ago, told the club's official website, 'We are very happy that we could persuade Mikael to join Hannover.'

Forssell was a member of the Birmingham squad relegated from the Barclays Premier League this month.

He added: 'I am looking forward to playing for Hannover and in the Bundesliga.'
