Messi buoyed by Barca's early summer signings
Playmaker Lionel Messi admits Barcelona's early forays into the transfer market have given him optimism for next season.
Less than a fortnight after the end of a largely disappointing Primera Liga campaign, Barca have snapped up highly-rated Sevilla midfielder Seydou Keita and brought back former defender Gerard Pique from Manchester United.
The Catalan giants, who will be coached by Pep Guardiola next season, have also been linked with a number of other players including the likes of Dani Alves, Dani Guiza, Sergio Garcia, Alexander Hleb and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Messi said in Marca: 'Very important players have arrived and there exists better prospects for next season.
'In this campaign that has just finished everything was bad, because we were unable to be champions, and as well as that the league went to our rivals (Real Madrid), who beat us and beat us very well.'
