Beasley scores after long layoff as Rangers win Scottish FA Cup

GLASGOW, Scotland -- American midfielder DaMarcus Beasley scored in his second match following a 5½-month injury layoff -- and on his 26th birthday- helping Glasgow Rangers beat Queen of the South 3-2 Saturday in the Scottish FA Cup final.

Beasley hurt his right knee during a European Champions League game at Stuttgart on Nov. 27, had surgery and returned Monday in a 3-0 Scottish Premier League win at St. Mirren. He is on the U.S. roster for Wednesday's exhibition game against England at Wembley.

Kris Boyd scored the opening goal in the 33rd minute and Beasley made it 2-0 in the 43rd. Queen of the South tied it on goals by Steve Tosh in the 50th and Jim Thomson in the 53rd, but Boyd scored his 24th goal of the season in the 72nd minute.

Rangers won the cup for the 32nd time. The victory followed a loss to Zenit St. Petersburg in the UEFA Cup final and a second-place finish behind Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.
