Nine-man Hibs slump to defeat at Aberdeen

GLASGOW, April 26 (Reuters) - Hibernian passed up the chance to move third in the Scottish Premier League when they lost 2-1 at Aberdeen on Saturday and had two players sent off.

Dean Shiels squeezed a shot under keeper Jamie Langfield for Hibs' opener after 54 minutes before Darren Mackie levelled nine minutes later.

Hibs then had Thierry Gathuessi sent off for two bookings in quick succession. He shoved Aberdeen's Lee Miller for a penalty and his first caution then earned another for dissent before the kick could be taken.

Miller slotted the pently in the 70th minute before Hibs' substitute Colin Nish came on two minutes later only to be sent off eight minutes after that.

Champions Celtic meet Glasgow rivals Rangers on Sunday. Celtic top the standings with 77 points from 34 games while Rangers have 75 from 31.

Elsewhere, Hearts beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0, St Mirren beat Falkirk 1-0 and Kilmarnock drew 1-1 with Gretna.

Motherwell and Dundee United fought out a 2-2 draw earlier on Saturday. Chris Porter headed a double for Motherwell, but United grabbed a late equaliser with a Lee Wilkie header after Stephen Craigan had scored an own goal just before the interval.
