McLeish job safe, insists Birmingham boss

Alex McLeish will stay on as Birmingham manager even if the club are relegated rom the Premier League, co-owner David Sullivan has revealed.

City are in the bottom three and have just three games against Liverpool today, fellow strugglers Fulham and Blackburn to secure top-flight survival.

McLeish arrived at St Andrews at the end of November after narrowly failing to lead Scotland to Euro 2008 and Sullivan insists he will be at the midlands club next year come what may.

Sullivan told the ly Expresshatever happens, McLeish stays.

'We'll sit down and plot a buying and selling campaign. If he does it for us, he'll end up at Man United.

'He knows football is a marathon not a sprint.

'Unfortunately, we're now down to a spring, we're down to the last half mile.'
