Koreas to meet to iron out qualifier squabble

SEOUL, Feb 25 (Reuters) - North and South Korean soccer officials will meet on Tuesday in the North Korean city of Kaesong to again try to iron out a squabble over flags and national anthems at a World Cup qualifier next month.

North Korea wants to use a unified flag and play a folk song instead of the national anthems for their March 26 qualifier in Pyongyang, although FIFA rules say each must have its own.

'In soccer, we play under our national flag and play the national anthem,' a South Korean Football Association official said, but added he could not comment on what position the South would take at Tuesday's meeting.

North and South Korea have been drawn in Group three with Jordan and Turkmenistan.
