The New England Revolution announced Monday that the club has signed Honduran midfielder Mauricio Castro. He will occupy one of the team's eight international spots on the roster. Per MLS and club policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Castro, 26, comes to the Revolution from CD Olimpia of Honduras' La Nacional, where he played in the Lions' midfield for the last year. Prior to Olimpia, Castro was a member of Honduras' Hispano (2005-07) and Universidad (2004-05) clubs.
Castro also earned four caps with the Honduras national team during the 2007 UNCAF Nations Cup..
"We're pleased we were able to acquire Mauricio," Revolution director of soccer Michael Burns said. "We believe his abilities complement our current roster and allows us added flexibility with the lineup this season. We're looking forward to Mauricio joining the club."
