UCLA women sign seven for 2008

UCLA women's soccer coach Jillian Ellis announced the signing of seven players to national letters of intent on Wednesday. Headlining the group are four players with youth national team experience, while two more are Region-IV ODP Team members. All seven players will be freshmen in the fall of 2008.

"With these players, in addition to what we have returning from last year, I'm very excited about the future of our program," said Ellis, who has led UCLA to five straight NCAA College Cup appearances. "Having gotten to know these players throughout the recruiting process, I know that this is a special group that will excel both on and off the field as student-athletes at UCLA."

Sydney Leroux is the lone forward in the group and was recently called into camp with the U.S. U-20 national team. Midfielders Hannah Mac Kechnie and Summer Williams have extensive ODP experience. Defenders Robyn Dutton, Amelia Mathis and Whitney Sharpe add depth and goalkeeper Yiana Dimmitt rounds up the group.
