MADRID, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Real Madrid's German international defender Christoph Metzelder will be out of action for up to two months after undergoing surgery to deal with an injury to the sole of his foot. 'The operation went well and there were no complications,' doctors Mariano de Prado and Pedro Luis Ripoll were quoted as saying by Spanish media. 'We expect him to leave hospital this evening or tomorrow morning and then he can begin his rehabilitation programme.' The 27-year-old centre-back, who joined Real in the close season after finishing his contract with Borussia Dortmund, suffered the injury at the start of December and has made only one appearance since. He will miss Real's Champions League last-16 tie against AS Roma and faces a race against time to prove his form and fitness ahead of Euro 2008 in June.
