Boro wait on Cattermole knee ligaments

Middlesbrough midfielder Lee Cattermole has undergone a scan to determine the extent of the knee ligament injury he suffered at Newcastle. The 19-year-old was hurt shortly before half-time in Sunday's 1-1 Premier League draw at St James' Park, but played on until being replaced by Dong-Gook Lee 19 minutes from time. Cattermole suffered medial ligament damage in the challenge and was sent for a scan as manager Gareth Southgate waits to see how serious the problem is. Boro have been plagued by injuries all season with the likes of Emanuel Pogatetz, Robert Huth, Julio Arca and £6million summer signing Mido among those to have suffered enforced long-term lay-offs.
