Wenger impressed by 'brave' teenager Freeman

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels 'brave' 15-year-old Luke Freeman has a bright future ahead of him.

Following negotiations with Coca-Cola League One side Gillingham, the teenager last week signed an initial student registration with the Gunners, which will turn into a professional contract when he becomes 17.

Freeman made headlines back in November when he became the youngest player to feature in the FA Cup after coming off the bench for the Gills to face Barnet in the first round.

The forward made his debut for the Arsenal Under-18s in their 3-2 defeat to Ipswich, and Wenger feels Freeman has all the qualities to go on and make a fine career for himself.

'When he came in on the first day, I took him with me to see what his characteristics were,' Wenger said.

'He has had a good education at Gillingham and I am impressed by his personality.

'He is brave, knows what he wants and he is a lively guy in the box.

'He is 15 years old and it is down to him to progress.'
