Beckham's Galaxy extends to Korea and China

David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy will visit Korea and China on their pre-season tour of Asia, the club confirmed today.

The Galaxy will play two games, against FC Seoul at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul, Korea on March 1 and against China All-Star Union on March 5 at Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai, China.

'Both of these fine nations have a special place in the Galaxy's history based on our past experiences here, and we cannot think of a better time than now to renew these old friendships,' said Galaxy assistant general manager Tom Payne.

'These are important games in our club's preparation for the 2008 MLS season and I expect that fans in Seoul and Shanghai will remember the LA Galaxy visiting their cities for a very long time.'

The tour will allow the Galaxy to tap into Beckham's huge popularity in Asia. Beckham's previous two clubs, Manchester United and Real Madrid, were frequent visitors to the region during his time with them.

The Galaxy visited Australia and New Zealand at the end of last season, attracting a crowd of over 80,000 in Sydney.
