Draw talk 'bollocks', says Roar's Moore

Underdogs Queensland Roar have savaged suggestions they're aiming for a draw against Sydney FC when the A-League finals kick-off on Friday night.

While coach Frank Farina will gladly accept a draw and Sydney striker Alex Brosque is tipping the Roar to play for a stalemate, Roar captain Craig Moore reacted angrily to such talk.

"That's a lot of - excuse my language - bollocks," he said.

"We go out and try to win every game.

"Brosquey is probably adding a bit to the game ... but that's part and parcel of this match.

"We don't love each other but that makes for a better game."

After limping into fourth spot with a terrible 2-0 loss to Adelaide United on Sunday night, Farina on Tuesday admitted he'd "sign" for a draw if given the chance and look to clinch the tie at home on February 8.

But the former Socceroos coach clarified that would not be the tactics on Friday night at Sydney Football Stadium.

"Not at all," he said. "I've never known anyone to say we're going to go out and play for a draw.

"I think it's too difficult because if you have that mindset or that mentality that you're going into the game for a draw then you go a goal down you have to change everything.

"It's very difficult to change your approach to games if you've gone out there negative in terms of defending and then all of a sudden you have to attack.

"We're going into the game against Sydney with nothing to lose."

Unlike their Sydney rivals, the Roar have no A-League finals experience.

The last-round league leaders finished sixth and fifth in the first two seasons of the competition and possess a young squad.

In addition, the Roar have suffered a major blow with the two-match suspension of veteran hardman Danny Tiatto.

Sydney coach John Kosmina has been quick to jump on the youth factor, niggling that the inexperienced Roar wilted under pressure.

But Farina believed his young guns - including Michael Zullo, Robbie Kruse and Taj Minniecon - will be far better prepared after the tense trip to Adelaide.

"They're experiences which you can't buy, particularly for the younger players," he said.

"If anything positive came out of it it was a good learning process for them."

Brazilian Marcinho is in the mix with Hyuk-Su Seo and bolter Chris Grossman to replace Tiatto at wing-back.

Farina has moved to safeguard against worries of losing first-choice goalkeeper Liam Reddy for the season by signing former Sydney FC stopper Justin Pasfield.

Pasfield, released by Wollongong Wolves, will sit on the bench against his old club as incumbent Griffin McMaster's back-up.

The 22-year-old was Clint Bolton's understudy for two seasons with the Blues and replaces Marko Sutalo as third-stringer until Reddy returns to fitness after breaking his thumb three weeks ago.

Reddy was originally ruled out for just a fortnight and now appears in some doubt for the rest of the finals.
