The Queensland Roar have signed former Sydney FC goalkeeper Justin Pasfield to a short-term contract to cover for the worrying loss of No.1 shot-stopper Liam Reddy.
Roar coach Frank Farina moved to provide additional cover for incumbent keeper Griffin McMaster by signing Pasfield from the Wollongong Wolves.
The 22-year-old was Clint Bolton's understudy for two seasons with Sydney and replaces Marko Sutalo as the Roar's back-up custodian.
Reddy was originally ruled out for just a fortnight three weeks ago when he broke his thumb against Perth Glory, but it is now feared he may miss the rest of the season.
He will definitely miss Friday night's opening knockout finals clash with Sydney.
Farina said Pasfield's experience was a key in his decision to drop Sutalo.
"Justin was involved in Sydney's successful squad of season one so he is familiar with the demands of finals football and will provide excellent cover for Griffin until Liam is fit again," he said.
"We felt we should bring someone in who has a little more A-League experience as finals football is very different."
