Bridges jets off on Sydney's finals eve

Having arrived amid cries of being Sydney FC's saviour, striker Michael Bridges will on Tuesday return to England with little fanfare, but having played his part in the A-League club's resurrection.

While his now former teammates prepare for the A-League finals, Bridges will rejoin English championship side Hull FC this week after the end of his loan spell in the harbour city.

He played an important role in Sydney's early success after John Kosmina took over the coaching from Branko Culina when the club was mired in sixth place mid-season.

But, due to injury and the fact he would not feature in the finals, the 29-year-old has become less involved over the past weeks, with Kosmina leaving the former England under-21 off the bench all together for Sydney's last round game against Melbourne on Sunday.

"He's done a great job for us, a fantastic job, scored a couple of goals and set a few up, been a good character around the dressing room, but that's all behind us now, we've got 23 blokes here we've got to worry about for the finals," Kosmina said.

Bridges played nine games for Sydney, scoring two goals, including the winner in their pivotal 1-0 win over Newcastle in November.
