Thousands mourn loss of O'Donnell

HAMILTON, Scotland -- Numerous Scottish soccer stars were among 500 mourners at the funeral of Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell on Friday with thousands of fans lining the streets.

The 35-year-old O'Donnell collapsed and died after leaving the field near the end of Motherwell's 5-3 win over Dundee United on Saturday. An autopsy revealed that O'Donnell, who was married with four children, died of heart failure.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee and O'Donnell's teammates were at St. Mary's Church at Hamilton. Celtic manager Gordon Strachan and captain Stephen McManus also attended, along with Rangers' captain Barry Ferguson, assistant manager Ally McCoist and former Scotland manager Craig Brown.
