Injury could spell the end of Samuel's Inter season
MILAN, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Inter Milan's Argentine defender Walter Samuel injured a knee ligament in Sunday's 2-1 win over city rivals AC Milan, the Serie A leaders said.
'Tests showed an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee,' the Italian champions said on their Web site (www.inter.it).
According to Italian media, the injury will require surgery and Samuel risks missing the rest of the season.
Inter, who are seven points clear at the top of Serie A after the derby win, already have a long injury list that includes midfielders Dejan Stankovic, Patrick Vieira, Luis Figo and Olivier Dacourt.
