Businessman John Fisher buys stock in Celtic
LONDON -- California businessman John Fisher, son of Gap Inc. founder Donald Fisher, bought a 3.24 percent stake in Scottish Premier League club Celtic on Thursday.
Celtic PLC said in a statement released to the London Stock Exchange that Fisher's company, Atlas LLC, paid $997,115 (503,010 pounds) for the shares. It gave no further information on the company, other than saying it was a California limited liability company owned by Fisher.
Fisher is also an owner of Major League Baseball's Oakland Athletics.
Celtic, which is based in Glasgow, has won the Scottish league 41 times and is the two-time defending champion.
