Former Barca man Amor still on critical list

MADRID, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Former Barcelona and Spain midfielder Guillermo Amor has made a slight improvement in hospital after being seriously injured in a road accident on Sunday, doctors have said. 'He is clinically stable and has made favourable progress. He is still in intensive care with assisted breathing,' a statement from the Verge de la Cinta de Tortosa hospital in Tarragona said on Monday. Medical staff were continuing to monitor his condition. The 40-year-old had surgery on a stomach injury on Sunday morning and was also suffering from a chest injury and a fractured pelvis. Amor came up through the Barca youth system and made 550 appearances between 1988-98, the third highest number by a player at the club. He was a member of Johan Cruyff's famous 'Dream Team' in the early 1990s and won a European Cup, two European Cup Winners' Cups, five Primera Liga titles and three King's Cups with Barcelona. Amor went on to have spells with Fiorentina and Villarreal. He also won 37 caps for Spain.
