Ferguson: SPL title would soften European blow
Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has set his sights on ending Celtic's SPL dominance after crashing out of the Champions League.
Ferguson has seen Celtic canter away with the last two league titles but believes Rangers can pip them this season.
And if Rangers do win the Clydesdale Bank Premier League crown, Ferguson claims it will be a triumph which will compensate for their failure to join their Old Firm rivals in the last 16 of Europe's elite club competition.
Rangers crashed out of the Champions League after a 3-0 defeat to Lyon on Wednesday, and will enter the UEFA Cup.
Ferguson said: 'The title is always your main focus and if we can go on and win it then it would make up for the disappointment of the other night.
'That's all we can focus on now because we want to get back to playing the way we know we can.'
Rangers are straight back into league action on Saturday when they take on Hearts at Ibrox.
Ferguson insists they must banish memories of the defeat to the French champions.
'I'm gutted by what happened but there's no way we can feel sorry for ourselves,' he said.
