Former Scot skipper Lambert flattered by job link

Former Scotland captain Paul Lambert has admitted he was honoured to be linked with the job of managing the national team.

Lambert, who watched his Wycombe side draw 2-2 with Hereford in League Two last night, is one of a number of names being talked about as a replacement for Alex McLeish following his move to Birmingham.

'I'll have to see if I'm asked,' said the former Celtic midfielder.

'It's an honour to be linked to your national team but I think it is just pure speculation at the moment.

'I heard about it on Tuesday morning and I've never really thought about it to be honest - I've just concentrated on Wycombe.

'I've loved it here no doubt about it but we'll see what happens.'
