Police arrest 100 soccer hooligans in Germany
BREMEN, Germany -- Police fought with soccer fans Saturday and tried to stop them from damaging cars during a downtown skirmish resulting in more than 100 arrests.
An officer was briefly hospitalized after being hit with a bottle, police said.
Many of the hooligans were banned from the stadium and had come from nearby Hamburg and Hannover for the Bundesliga game in which Werder Bremen beat Hamburger SV 2-1. They were escorted to trains after being released.
Police said no information was available about injuries to hooligans or bystanders. Some arrests came after the game, as small groups of rival fans fought each other.
