Mokoena leg-break false alarm joy for Hughes

Blackburn manager Mark Hughes was relieved to find out today that midfielder Aaron Mokoena has not suffered a broken leg.

The South African captain was forced to come off in the Carling Cup victory against Portsmouth last night.

However he could come into contention for the home match against Liverpool on Saturday.

Hughes said: 'Mokoena is okay, thankfully. He got a bang on his leg, where a plate had earlier been inserted.

'As he went back on to the field he felt some pain and it frightened him more than anything.

'I have seen him this morning. He is walking around. He is a little bit sore but we will see how he is tomorrow.

'Obviously it is not as bad as we initially thought but he might have a scan just as a precaution.'

England winger David Bentley could also face Liverpool as he is expected to recover from a shin problem in time.
