Allegri: Row with Bonucci is forgotten

Bridges arrives to join Sydney FC

Sydney FC expect new recruit Michael Bridges to be available for the A-League club's clash with Central Coast next week after the former England under-21 international striker arrived in Australia.

The 29-year-old met his new teammates at training on Wednesday morning and will undergo a medical exam later in the day before finalising his loan move from English second-tier club Hull City.

He will be unavailable for Sydney's home match with Adelaide this Saturday as he awaits a visa clearance, but coach Branko Culina said he expected Bridges to be ready for his A-League debut against the Mariners on October 28.

"He's obviously yet to get his visa approved but as soon as he gets his visa approved he'll be in contention for a first team spot and just looking at him on his arrival he seems to be in good nick," Culina said.

"He'll certainly be in contention for the game against Central Coast next Sunday week.

"I'm excited about the prospect of him joining our squad and hopefully that will give us a lift we've been looking for since the start of the season."

After making a name for himself at Sunderland, Bridges played alongside Socceroos stars Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka at Leeds United before an Achilles injury in 2000, followed by a serious knee injury, halted his career.

He has struggled to play regular first-team football since, but comes to Sydney after a promising season with lower league outfit Carlisle United.

Bridges has made eight appearances for Hull in the English Championship this season, but has not played for three weeks.
