LONDON, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Manchester United will be without first choice goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar for Tuesday's home Champions League clash against Roma after he injured his toe in Saturday's win at Birmingham City.
The Dutchman was replaced at halftime by Tomasz Kuszczak after he fell awkwardly midway through the first half.
Kuszczak will now be handed his Champions League debut at Old Trafford.
'I think Edwin damaged his toe - to what extent I don't know but we'll send him for a scan,' United manager Alex Ferguson said on the club's website.
'He'll be out for Tuesday, that's for certain. It's a worry when you lose a man of his experience but Tomasz Kuszczak is very able and I'm pleased we've got someone as good as that.'
