Eredivisie: Feyenoord back on top after Heerenveen win
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Feyenoord returned to the top of the Dutch League on Saturday after Roy Makaay and Nick Hofs scored in a 2-0 home win over Heerenveen. Second-placed PSV Eindhoven are a point behind after being held to a 1-1 draw at NAC Breda. Ajax Amsterdam, who started the weekend in first place, host VVV Venlo on Sunday. Makaay put Feyenoord ahead after 21 minutes when he netted a rebound after Luigi Bruins hit the post and seven minutes later Hofs doubled the lead with a close range header. Matthew Amoah put NAC in front 20 minutes into the second half as PSV goalkeeper Gomes was beaten for the first time this season but 11 minutes later Danko Lazovic set up Kenneth Perez for the equaliser. Feyenoord have 15 points from six matches with PSV on 14 ahead of Ajax with 13. Twente Enschede, who visit fifth-placed Graafschap Doetinchem, have 11 points. Goran Lovre scored five minutes after the break to earn Groningen a 1-0 home win over Sparta Rotterdam. Excelsior Rotterdam struck three second-half goals to snatch their first point in a 3-3 draw at Roda JC Kerkrade. Willem Janssen, Roland Lamah and Jan-Paul Saeijs gave the home team a 3-0 lead after 49 minutes but a Geert den Ouden penalty and a late double by Johan Voskamp levelled the match.
