Premier Showdown - Sept 22/23

It was yet another victory for Dale Johnson as he moved into a clear lead at the top of the table with Tommy Smyth in second place.

There was further woe for the ROTW as they could not even rely on a former winner to get off the mark for the season!

The ROTW can't believe their woeful form at the moment. Even when Dale and Tommy fail to get what's normally a competitive score they still cannot pick up any points! It's got to change and soon - they are the Sheffield Wednesday of prediction games!

So, who will the ROTW turn to this weekend? Come on down, Tom Slamecka!

We're making our first trip to Mexico for quite a while. Tom lives in Tepic.

He tells The Showdown: 'I'm a 56-year-old Accountant who was born and raised in Germany. Yes, I remember the 1966 gift to England. My favorite Premier League team would be Chelsea.

'Now I live in Mexico where I enjoy the South American football scene and the Premier League as well.'

Time to play, then!

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, has the chance to challenge our two experts.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.

Dale storms home late on with correct scorelines in the final two games of the weekend. It's tough luck on Tom who was the odd goal out in a few games - but at the end of the day the ROTW remain pointless!

Table after Round 7:
Dale: 15
Tommy: 6
Rest of the World: 0
