Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new four-year deal with Manchester City.

City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has rewarded the the Danish Under-21 international keeper for the impressive form that has seen him concede only two goals since making his first team debut on the opening day of the season.

Schmeichel told the club's website: 'It's great to have everything put to bed now so I can concentrate on my football and I'm delighted.

'Everything's gone well this season, so to get this sorted out as well is really pleasing.'

Eriksson said: 'Kasper has been very impressive since I came to City, and I'm delighted that he has committed his future to the club.'
