Premier Showdown - Sept 15-17

What a performance from Tommy Smyth last time around! A superb 13 point haul secured a second victory of the season for Tommy and means he's breathing down the neck of leader Dale Johnson.

While our ESPN experts are enjoying a promising start to the campaign, the Rest of the World team have been woeful. After winning the title for the last two seasons they are yet to get off the mark in 2007/08 and are in danger of becoming adrift.

That's means there's a lot of work to do, and this weekend the responsibility falls to an old friend of Soccernet, Steve Straker.

Steve took part last year and recorded a win for the ROTW, and he feels he has what it takes to finally get the merry band of challengers off the mark.

Steve tells us: 'I was born in Driffield, East Yorkshire and I am a fan of Hull City but I now work for Cisco Systems in San Jose, California.

'I played one round last year and won three points for the ROTW. I love the game, love the website and it's time for a win for the ROTW so I'll get 'em going just like last year!'

You better had, Steve! Game on...

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, has the chance to challenge our two experts.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.

Derby's surprise win at home to Newcastle means it's another victory for Dale and there's much work to do for the ROTW... onwards and upwards (maybe).

Table after Round 6:
Dale: 12
Tommy: 6
Rest of the World: 0
